GARY ROBBINS: A TRANSITION TO THE ADMINISTRATIVE JUDICIAL SYSTEM IS A STEP FORWARD
Gary Robbins, Head of the USAID Office for Uzbekistan
– The mission of today’s event is to improve and expand access to justice for citizens of Uzbekistan, so that they had free and fair treatment within the courts. I think that for Uzbekistan the transition to an administrative judicial system is a step forward. We will bring all the experience we have gained into our current joint programs with the Supreme Court and the UNDP office in Uzbekistan. It is important that Uzbekistan learned from developed countries, and created its own system that is appropriate for your country. That is why we give examples of many countries, often send people who carry out their activities in the judicial system to other countries to study the justice system. We have invited experts from different countries so that Uzbekistan could choose for itself the best and most suitable system.
