A PARTNERSHIP MEMORANDUM WAS SIGNED

On April 5, 2021 in Tashkent, the Development Strategy Center and the Ecological Party of Uzbekistan signed a Memorandum of Understanding. The event, which was attended by experts of the Development Strategy Center, members of the Executive Committee of the party, representatives of non-governmental organizations and environmental scientists, agreed on the work to be done in the framework of cooperation.

‑‑ The main purpose of the Memorandum is to implement a set of measures to address environmental problems in the country to ensure environmental security, improve the environmental situation, create favorable conditions for improving living standards and quality of life, as defined in the Action Strategy and the State Program. The priority of the Memorandum of Cooperation is to conduct systematic public control over the protection of the environment and rational use of natural resources, as well as to develop proposals for the necessary amendments to the legislation, said Eldor Tulyakov, Executive Director of the Development Strategy Center.

Indeed, in recent years, the joint participation of non-governmental non-profit organizations in the implementation of programs and projects of ecology and environmental protection has been increasing. In particular, the paragraph 16 of the State Program "Year of Youth Support and Public Health 2021" also plans to take special measures to establish the practice of broad involvement of non-governmental non-profit organizations to identification of existing problems in the field of ecology, in-depth analysis, development of proposals for solutions, for ensuring public control over their implementation.

In short, the Memorandum aims to prevent various situations that could harm the environment in the future, as well as to explain to the general public the negative impact of such factors on socio-economic processes, nature and human health.
