The achievements of Uzbekistan foreign policy have been presented in Turkey

In recent years, Uzbekistan's active, open, pragmatic and well-thought-out foreign policy cooperation aimed at expanding relations with countries near and far abroad, which is in the national interest, is also evident in Uzbek-Turkish relations. In particular, the two leaders and Intergovernmental meetings are being held on a regular basis, further strengthening cooperation in trade, industry, investment and humanitarian spheres.

In this regard, the growing cooperation between the Development Strategy Centre and Turkey's leading think tanks is also of particular importance.

In particular, on September 23 at the invitation of the University of Commerce, one of the leading universities in Istanbul, Turkey, Eldor Tulyakov, Executive Director of the Development Strategy Centre, made a presentation on "Regional Cooperation in Central Asia" for university students and independent experts.

It was noted that over the past five years, within the framework of the Strategy of Action, relations between Uzbekistan and Central Asian countries have intensified at all levels, creating a new political environment of mutual trust and support. This is, first of all, provides an opportunity to jointly address the pressing issues of regional development in trade, industry, investment, energy, transport and transit, water use, education, security, ecology, improving the social environment and quality of life of the region.

As a result, the volume of bilateral trade turnover in Central Asia has grown steadily, and investment ties have been strengthened. In particular, one can see, that between 2016 and 2020, Uzbekistan's trade turnover with Central Asian countries has almost doubled, from $ 2.4 billion to $ 5 billion. At the same time, since 2016, the number of registered joint ventures has increased 5 times, from 312 to 1,600. In particular, important cooperation projects are being implemented in trade, industry, energy, transport, agriculture and many other sectors of the economy.

It is noteworthy that the policy of Uzbekistan to create an environment of peace, stability and security among the Central Asian states is being consistently pursued with other countries in the region and international organizations.

Uzbekistan has always expressed its position on Afghanistan. At the 75th session of the UN General Assembly, the President of Uzbekistan put forward an initiative to establish a UN Standing Committee on Afghanistan to coordinate peace efforts and promote a stable political order in Afghanistan, at the yesterday's 76th session of the UN General Assembly, he put forward proposals to make the UN influence and voice stronger than ever on the issue of Afghanistan, and called for the adoption of a special resolution of the United Nations General Assembly on strengthening the interdependence of Central and South Asia.

The development of such open and friendly relations in the framework of its foreign policy is attracting the interest of Uzbekistan not only in Central Asia, but also in South Asia, China, Turkey, Japan, Korea, the United States and Europe. Today, warm and friendly relations have been established with these countries, and economic, cultural and humanitarian ties are expanding.

At the end of the presentation, the faculty and students of the university thanked the staff of the Development Strategy Centre for the regular provision of comprehensive information on the work carried out in the foreign policy of Uzbekistan in the framework of the Strategy of Action.
